After covering with grass proof cloth, excavate a 30 cm deep and 30 cm wide rainwater collection ditch along the row at a distance of 3 cm from the edge of the ground cloth on both sides of the ridge surface.

When laying the grass proof cloth with U-shaped nails, first bury both sides and then connect the middle. Make a trench along the previously drawn line, with a depth of 5-10 cm, and bury one side of the grass proof cloth into the trench. Use "U" - shaped iron nails or wire to connect the apple cardboard boxes in the middle. The operation speed is fast and the connection is firm, with an overlap of 3-5 cm to prevent gaps from forming due to the shrinkage of the grass proof cloth and the growth of weeds. Due to the automatic contraction and tension of the anti grass cloth when exposed to sunlight, when laying anti grass cloth, it only needs to be simply flattened, which is different from laying plastic film.

When laying the grass proof cloth with ground nails, the first thing to do is to remove the weeds on the ground, especially those with thicker stems, to prevent damage to the grass proof cloth. Secondly, level the ground, requiring a certain slope between the ground at the tree trunk and the outer ground of the ground cloth, with a height difference of 5 cm, to facilitate the rapid flow of rainwater to the rainwater collection ditches on both sides and effectively absorb it by the root system, preventing rainwater from evaporating and wasting on the surface due to the lack of slope of the grass proof cloth. Mark the size of the tree crown and the width of the selected grass proof cloth. The line is parallel to the row direction, and two straight lines are drawn on both sides of the tree disk with measuring ropes. The distance from the tree trunk is less than 10 cm from the width of the ground cloth, and the excess part is used for embedding, overlapping connection in the middle, and ground cloth shrinkage. For orchards with drip irrigation equipment, drip irrigation pipes can be placed under the grass proof cloth. In young orchards, one drip irrigation pipe can be placed close to the tree trunk in each row, while in mature orchards, one drip irrigation pipe can be placed along the outer side of the grass cover.

After covering with grass proof cloth, excavate a 30 cm deep and 30 cm wide rainwater collection ditch along the row at a distance of 3 cm from the edge of the ground cloth on both sides of the ridge surface. The ditch bottom should be straight to facilitate even distribution of rainwater. When the terrain in the park is uneven and the rainwater collection ditch is long, a crossbar can be built every 2-3 plants in the rainwater collection ditch. In addition, orchards with conditions can be covered with a layer of fine crop straw in the catchment ditch to further improve soil moisture retention. Orchard with drip irrigation equipment can avoid digging rainwater collection ditches to reduce labor costs.
